Informed consent every step of the way
Ours is a consent-driven community. We not share or sell your personal information with anybody and we will not send newsletters, announcements, or surveys to you unless you provide consent.
What information do we collect?
We obtain your personal information only from you. We may collect the following information:
Personal information you disclose to us. The personal information we collect depends on the context of your interactions with us and the sites, the choices you make, and the services and features you elect to use.
Name and contact data. No personal information is required to browse the web site. We collect your first and last name, email address, and other similar contact data when you use other services.
Credentials. We collect passwords and similar security information used for
authentication and account access to our online applications.
Payment data. We collect data necessary to process your payment if you contribute financially. This information is processed by professional companies that conduct non-cash transactions and only to the extent necessary to effect the payments. All payment data is stored by our payment processors (Paypal, Square, or Stripe). You should review their privacy policies and contact the payment processor directly to respond to your questions.
Automatically collected information. In addition to the information that you manually enter into our web forms, we also collect non-personal information that can, in no way, identify you personally. This non-personal, anonymous information includes log information such as the version of your web browser, your computer’s operating system, Internet address, unique device identifiers, language preference, referring site, the date and time of access, and mobile network information.
Usage Information: We collect anonymized statistical information about your usage of our Services. For example, we collect information about the number of registered users, and for the I3 Connectivity Explorer, the number of locations in each state that users have investigated. We use this information to improve our services.
Website and Application Analytics
For individual applications: The I3 Connectivity Explorer may enable web analytics in order to improve your user experience. The use of web analytics will require you to opt/in. You will be able to opt out at any time.
If you choose to provide us with personal information through email, phone, or our website information systems, we will do our best to use that information only to serve your needs as a customer.
All communications except those concerning issues with your account or changes in polices require your opt-in consent, generally via subscription to one or more mailing lists.
We will never sell or rent your personal information to anyone. Selling or renting your information is unacceptable to us.
However, we do share your information as necessary with specific third parties under certain circumstances as described below.
Interactions with Other Users
If you interact with other users of the Sites, those users may see your name, profile photo, and descriptions of your activity, including sending invitations to other users, chatting with other users, liking posts, following blogs.
When you post comments, contributions or other content to the Sites, your posts may be viewed by all users and may be publicly distributed outside the Site in perpetuity.
Email Subscription Lists
MailChimp: We use MailChimp to send out email newsletters and announcements. The subscription information that you provide (name and email address) will be transferred to Mailchimp and subject to their Privacy and Terms of Service policies.
Whenever you receive a newsletter or announcement, you will be given the opportunity to unsubscribe.
Typeform: We may use TypeForm to conduct surveys. Participation in any survey is completely voluntary. You may choose whether or not to participate in a survey and therefore disclose information. Each survey will explain precisely what data is being collected and how the data will be used. The information will be transferred to Typeform on our behalf, and will be subject to their Privacy and Terms of Service policies.
Only people affiliated with Internet as Infrastructure will be able to access survey data.
Paypal, Square, and Stripe (payment processors)
PayPal: We may use PayPal as a safe and easy way to help support our site. Payment data is protected and encrypted during transit by PayPal. Please review PayPal’s Privacy and User Agreements if you opt to use their service.
Square: We may use Square as a safe and easy way to help support our site. Payment data is protected and encrypted during transit by Square. Please review Square’s Privacy and User Agreements if you opt to use their service.
Stripe: We may use Stripe as a safe and easy way to help support our site. Payment data is protected and encrypted during transit by Stripe. Please review Stripes’s Privacy and Terms if you opt to use their service.
We will share your email with a government agency if required to do so by law. In addition, we will release documents, including e-mails, if required to do so by a congressional or judicial subpoena.
How long do we keep your information?
When we have no ongoing legitimate business need to process your personal information, we will either delete or anonymize it, or, if this is not possible (for example, because your personal information has been stored in backup archives), then we will securely store your personal information in a repository isolated from further processing until deletion is possible.
How do we keep your information safe?
We take a number of important steps to protect your personal information. We treat it as confidential. We tell our employees to take care in handling it. We limit access to those who need it to perform their jobs. Our outside service providers must also protect it, and use it only to meet our business needs. We also take steps to protect our systems from unauthorized access. We comply with all laws that apply to us.
How do we handle information from minors?
We do not knowingly collect data from or market to children under 18 years of age. If we learn that personal information from users less than eighteen years of age has been collected, we will deactivate the account and take reasonable measures to promptly delete such data from our records. What are your privacy rights?
In some regions, such as the European economic area, you have rights that allow you greater access to and control over your personal information. You may review, change, or terminate your account at any time. To make such a request, please use the contact details provided below.
If we are relying on your consent to process your personal information, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. Please note however that this will not affect the lawfulness of processing before its withdrawal.
If you’re a resident of the European economic area and you believe we are unlawfully processing your personal information, you also have the right to complain to your local data protection supervisory authority. California Privacy Rights
California Civil Code Section 1798.83, also known as the “Shine The Light” law, permits our users who are California residents to request and obtain from us, once a year and free of charge, information about categories of personal information (if any) we disclosed to third parties for direct marketing purposes and the names and addresses of all third parties with which we shared personal information in the immediately preceding calendar year. If you are a California resident and would like to make such a request, please submit your request in writing to us using the contact information provided below.
If you are under 18 years of age, reside in California, and have a registered account with the Sites, you have the right to request removal of unwanted data that you publicly post on the Site. To request removal of such data, please contact us using the contact information provided below, and include the email address associated with your account and a statement that you reside in California. We will make sure the data is not publicly displayed on the Site, but please be aware that the data may not be completely or comprehensively removed from our systems.
